I bought a Nexus 5 months ahead of its official launch here in the Philippines. At that time I was still using an iPhone 4 and was quite unconvinced by the whole new iPhone 5 (and 5s, 5c ) hullabaloo. I was looking for a bang-for-my-buck-better-than-iPhone-5-smartphone. Then I came face to face with a Nexus 5 at GDayX Mindanao. I got swooned.
I’m a gadget guy simply because I need it. I own a smartphone because my job, lifestyle and hobbies need one. Lastly, I am as thrift as the ants and gadgets (when they have no ROIs for me) is simply the last of my financial priorities.
Here is my owner’s review of Google/ LG’s Nexus 5.
Super thin, super lite
(137.9 x 69.2 x 8.6 mm; 130 grams)
Android phone on steroids
(Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB non expandable internal storage)
High definition, highly responsive touchscreen display
(4.95-inch Tru-HD IPS+ LCD display @ 1080×1920 , 445pi Gorilla Glass 3)
Camera for selfies!
(8 MP slightly protruding back camera with Autofocus, Optical Image Stabilization, LED flash, Back camera 1.3 MP)
Minimalist UI and Android Kitkat OS
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac
Bluetooth 4.0 LE
GPS w/ aGPS support
HSPA+, 4G LTE
Li-Ion 2,300mAh battery
So what I found wanting on Nexus 5?
So will it pass for an iPhone killer? For its sleek built, plus how capable it is under my circumstances and for as long as it wouldn’t cost me an arm or leg, yes I’ll get one!
