Looks like the two foremost IOS  jailbreaking icons are working furiously on new “vulnerabilities” that could possibly be exploited to jailbreak IOS 6.

Tweets from both @planetbeing (iPhone Dev Team ) and @pod2g  indicates a”fruitful” IOS 6 (iPhone 5) hackathon.

Both @pod2g and @planetbeing has been largely responsible for releasing IOS device exploits for the jailbreaking community to take advantage of. It is known that Apple has made jailbreaking of IOS devices increasingly difficult and that IOS 6 (iPhone 5) is so far, is the hardest. IOS 6.1 is yet to be released by Apple but @planetbeing hinted a working untethered JB of IOS 6.0.2 (iPhone5 )by @pod2g.

Yeah, I’m not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now. The reasons it’s not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future, 2. iOS 6.1 is coming very soon and will likely break a small part of it anyway, there’s no point in sacrificing the many bugs it won’t break.

Anyway, where there are 4+ bugs (that it took to get this to work), there’s gotta be one or two more so while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated.

This is not stuff I want to say over Twitter with 140 characters because I’m afraid of starting some sort of riot, but I like the smaller /r/jailbreak community more.

Well, I hope a “stable”, untethered IOS 6 jailbreak will be publicly released soon! Then I might just get an iPhone 5!

I finally found the reason why I get this screen message,

API unavailable notification every time you access Installous…

every time I access Installous, a popular “guerilla” IOS app repository on jailbroken IOS devices. Installous is/was created by Hackulous. If you go to their website, as of January 3, 2013, you get this message:

It was very abrupt, and no one sees it coming given the popularity of the group in the IOS jail breaking community. The big question is “what now?” What will happen to users of this app repository? No one knows.

Will the IOS jail breaking community fade because of this? Certainly not. To which direction, that is what is uncertain.

Almost empty white board calendar up to dec 21..

• At the homefront: Cleaned up my whiteboard calendar of clutter. I ended up not putting anything after December. I shall wait what will happen tomorrow. So Joy, forget your expected piglets1, 2, 3 and so on.
• M Universe. I had it differently. As most of the comments in this international Entertainment news portal article would say. Donald Trump is crowned mr. universe, despite the cobra talk of Janine Tugonon (she’s totally amazing). Not your day Philippines, we should learn cook our own miss whatever pageant.
• Sin Tax Bill signed by Pres. Aquino. I hope the bill’s grammar and syntax is implemented after christmas. or there would not be any merry sin making christmas parteh!
• RH Bill at BiCam committee- done. Overheard someone saying “my sex will be from 8PM-9PM only”. Talk about getting (re)productive.
• Decided to skip christmas party food eating at all. Even one day before end of the world, I manage to go on di-eat!
• Blogged this post. I shared an appeal for help. Posted a picture on my photoblog. So far no plans to use them for ads, unlike Instagram.
• Contemplating on an outing with the “LOTE”  people. Will meet later and expecting tons of conflicts.

Social media is at the forefront of bringing in news. It relies heavily on citizen reporting and sharing. Even international news agencies like the New York Times Blog noticed.

Needless to say, my hometown’s a virgin when it comes to typhoons. It had its share of heavy rainfall and pseudo floodings but none had the early warning of signal number 2 from PAGASA.

Public Storm Signal No. 2 ? Here’s how PAGASA define Public Storm Warning Signal Number 2 (PSWS#2)

“METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS:

A tropical cyclone will affect the the locality.
Winds of greater than 60 kph and up to 100 kph may be expected in at least 24 hours.
IMPACT OF THE WINDS:

Some coconut trees may be tilted with few others broken.
Few big trees may be uprooted.
Many banana plants may be downed.
Rice and corn may be adversely affected.
Large number of nipa and cogon houses may be partially or totally unroofed.
Some old galvanized iron roofings may be peeled off.
In general, the winds may bring light to moderate damage to the exposed communities.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

The sea and coastal waters are dangerous to small seacrafts
Special attention should be given to the latest position, the direction and speed of movement and the intensity of the storm as it may intensify and move towards the locality.
The general public especially people travelling by sea and air are cautioned to avoid unnecessary risks.
Outdoor activities of children should be postponed.
Secure properties before the signal is upgraded.
Disaster preparedness agencies / organizations are in action to alert their communities.

We never had this storm signal for decades as far as I can remember. The pseudo floods we had in the past is nothing of this scale, if ever. Our town is supposed to be storm free, flood free. The mountains surrounding should be enough to break any storm from pounding on our town.

Observing the recent floods from heavy rainfall, I’m not so sure anymore. I maybe exaggerating and I hope I’m dead wrong. Nevertheless, we’re bracing for the worst.

I can’t hide my excitement for this event not only because I’m one of Ms. Jojie’s fan but also because she was instrumental in teaching me the basics of photojournalism.

Ms. Jojie Alcantara is an engaging writer who dabbles in the arts- painting, photography to name a few and travels incessantly around the country “to promote her hometown to the world”. She is a lifestyle and travel writer for national dailies like Manila Bulletin and local newspaper Sunstar Davao. She writes about her travels at Dabawenya.me.  She has this penchant for funny signs she encounters during travels and blogs about it on her now defunct but very lively website witerary.com. Her travel photos and photography portfolio is astounding to say at least and some of her photos are published in known travel magazines like Mabuhay (of Phil. Airlines). Of course we had our past with dabawenya Jojie Alcantara. She was our  resource speaker in previous photojournalism workshop with the SOX Bloggers at The Farm in Carpenter Hill Koronadal City last 2009. I still use a legendary and prehistoric Powershot A20 point and shoot camera  that time but I really enjoyed the workshop so much I got hooked in photography since then.

So on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, about 25 active members of the Soccsksargen Bloggers Mindanao’s Funnest Blogging Circle, will be converging at GenSan View Resort, one of the city’s famed inland resorts for another travel photo blog workshop- The ShutterBlog. This is an exclusive workshop for the Sox Bloggers by Project O! Consultants together with CameraHaus, the #1 dealer of cameras and camera accessories in the city located inside KCC Mall of GenSan, and GenSan View Resort, the Official Venue.

Ms. Jojie Alcantara will have a meet and greet event at the Camera Haus inside KCC Mall, this June 11, 2012 at around 5:30PM.
